Pink snow on Mountain Tops

In my naivite

My sweetheart told me one day

That the snow coating the mountains

In Western Pennsylvania

Were cotton candy pink

I envisioned the rose landscapes

Felt the sweet cool scent

Against my nose

Saw the lavender sky

Like a water colored canvas

As a backdrop of the candied peaks

And a majestic sunset

Ending a soft breezy day

Of whirling petal powder

Sprinkling my hair

Seasons and dates flashed

From head to mental pen

this must see

this must experience

this beauty!

And even after my sweetheart admitted

That the snow in western Pennsylvania

Looks like snow anywhere

Around the world

As he laughed and laughed

and laughed

And my perfect vision of pink snow

And lavendar sky

shattered

I felt no shame

My imagination could not be blamed For what’s wrong with believing in pink snow?
